Escape from Tarkov: A 24-hour wipe of all progress in Escape from Tarkov, according to developer Battlestate Games, appears to be verified.
At the time of this writing, the second Escape from Tarkov wipes looks to be upon us. While the official notice for version 0.12.12.30 doesn’t mention a wipe, gamers are confident that this patch will reset all progress and return everyone back to the beginning point. The tough FPS survival game will go down momentarily for maintenance.
Battlestate Games has stated that Escape from Tarkov will be unavailable for approximately five hours on June 29 at 12:00 a.m. PDT/03:00 a.m. EDT/08:30 a.m. BST. During this time, Tarkov will not be available, according to the notice, and the term may be extended “if necessary.”
It’s been a week of progressively ridiculous happenings in Escape from Tarkov, and this type of goofiness has often preceded a significant patch that necessitates a wipe. If you’re not in Tarkov, all of your progress, including your character’s skill development and the work you’ve put into building your base, will be wiped out when the game resets to its default state.
That may sound like a negative to the uninformed, but in Tarkov it’s typically welcomed with joy. As the player base stratifies into tiers over time, PvP tends to become less and less equal. Wipes, on the other hand, bring everyone back to the same level. Even if there is no season pass, it seems like the beginning of a new one.
A number of messages from mods on the main Tarkov server and the lengthy downtime necessary for this patch, as well as the “pre-wipe” goofiness of the last week, indicate that this will be one of the Tarkov patches that necessitate a wipe.
