Fallout 5: For the next decade or so, Fallout 76 will be the sole Fallout game, and perhaps the last Fallout game at all. Bethesda’s Todd Howard claimed that Fallout 5 will follow The Elder Scrolls 6, which is now in pre-production, in an interview with IGN In other words, it’s simply a glimmer in Todd’s eye.
Bethesda is most known for its role-playing games (RPGs), which are created by a single team and have long intervals between releases. In comparison to Activision’s Call of Duty or Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed processes, this is a completely different method of development. As Bethesda’s games grow in size, the distances between them widen.

Even though The Elder Scrolls 6 was revealed in 2018, Bethesda warned that it would be a long time coming. Pre-production or the “design phase” have been the sole terms used to describe TES6 for the previous four years.
The Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and “we’ll be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s very busy moving forward for a while,” Howard said today. “Other projects are on our radar from time to time,” said the team.
In order for Fallout 5 to be released in the 2030s, it seems unlikely that The Elder Scrolls 6 will come out until 2027 at the earliest. In the event that you aren’t a fan of the online part of Fallout 76, Microsoft’s purchase may be a lifesaver for those who will be a decade older when the next Fallout is out. Obsidian and inXile, the company behind Fallout New Vegas and other hard-core computer RPGs, are now part of Microsoft. I doubt we won’t see a new Fallout title before the fifth installment of the series is released.
